  • Author: Emily Cooks
  • Yield: 1 serving

Description

Juicy and flavorful top sirloin steak seared to perfection! This easy pan-seared recipe delivers a restaurant-quality steak in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 top sirloin steak (about 1-inch thick)

  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

  • Garlic powder

  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the top sirloin steak dry with paper towels and season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet (cast iron preferred) over high heat until smoking hot. Add olive oil.

  3. Carefully place the steak in the hot pan and sear for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Adjust time for desired doneness.

  4. (Optional) During the last minute, add butter and herbs to the pan, spooning melted butter over the steak.

  5. Check internal temperature using a meat thermometer.

  6. Remove steak from pan, tent with foil, and let rest for 5-10 minutes.

  7. Slice against the grain and serve.

Notes

Variations include using marinades or dry rubs. Serve with your favorite steak sauce, chimichurri, or garlic butter.
