Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

2. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the egg, soy sauce, cornstarch, ginger, and garlic powder.

3. Marinate the chicken: Add the chicken to the marinade and toss to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), air fryer to 375°F (190°C), or heat oil in a skillet.

5. Cook chicken using your preferred method (baking, air frying, or pan-frying).

6. In a saucepan, whisk together the sauce ingredients: soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).

7. Simmer sauce until thickened.

8. Add cooked chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.

9. Garnish with sesame seeds.

10. Serve over rice or noodles.

Notes

Gluten-free option: use tamari instead of soy sauce. For a spicy kick, add more red pepper flakes or hot sauce. Serve with rice, noodles, and steamed or stir-fried vegetables.
