Pan-Fried Tilapia

  • Author: Emily Cooks

Description

Quick and easy pan-fried tilapia with a crispy crust and flaky interior. A delicious and healthy weeknight meal ready in just 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fresh tilapia fillets (6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels.

2. Mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

3. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the tilapia fillets.

4. Drizzle lemon juice over the seasoned fillets.

5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

6. Carefully place tilapia fillets in the hot skillet (cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding).

7. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side until golden brown.

8. Flip gently and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the second side, until the fish flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

9. Transfer the cooked tilapia to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

10. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

Variations include using Cajun spice or Italian herbs for seasoning. Gluten-free option: ensure spices are certified gluten-free. Thicker fillets can be pounded or butterflied for even cooking.
