Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices thick-cut challah bread
  • Butter or cooking spray, for cooking
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, whipped cream

Instructions

1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

2. Cut each slice of bread into three equal strips.

3. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add butter or cooking spray.

4. Dip each breadstick into the egg mixture.

5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

6. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Variations include using different extracts or adding garlic powder and Parmesan for a savory twist. Can be made ahead and reheated. Use day-old bread to avoid soggy sticks.
