Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries
  • 12 ounces chocolate (milk, dark, semi-sweet, or white)
  • 1 tablespoon shortening or coconut oil (optional)
  • Sprinkles, chopped nuts, drizzled chocolate (optional)

Instructions

1. Gently wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries.

2. Hull the strawberries using a straw or paring knife.

3. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.  If using the microwave, melt in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, to prevent scorching.

4. Hold each strawberry by the stem or hull and dip into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat.

5. Lift and twist the strawberry to let excess chocolate drip off.

6. Place the dipped strawberry on parchment paper to set.

7. Decorate with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or drizzled chocolate as desired.

8. Let the chocolate set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent the chocolate from seizing. Parchment paper is recommended for setting the chocolate.
